Aird Farm Cottages enjoy an elevated position at the end of Craignish peninsula offering stunning views over the Sound of Jura to Mull and Gulf of Corryvreckan Whirlpool the tidal race between Jura and Scarba.
The Dorus Mhor (meaning the big door) is another tidal race a mile walk from the Aird and where the first steam boat, the Comet went down in 1820.
The village of Ardfern has a shop, the local hotel Galley of Lorne offers bar and evening meals in its restaurant. A marina with a chandlery and a short drive Craobh Haven has a pub and marina. Lunga Riding Center offers western riding, treking and lessons on their Appaloosa horses.
The standing stones and neolithic burial grounds of Mid Argyll are found within a short distance at Kilmartin Glen along with Kilmartin House Museum. Near Kilmartin there is also Carnassaire Castle and Dunadd Fort. Craignish peninsula is steep in history and archaeological remains at Kilmarie Chapel which has a number of carved stones and dating from the 13th century is at Kirton, one mile from Aird.
Arduaine Gardens, boat trips from Ardfern and Craobh Haven Marinas are all within easy reach of Aird. Oban is 27miles with boat trips to islands of Mull, Tiree and Colonosay and Lochgilphead 21miles.
